Pamela Anderson, the 56 year old former Baywatch bombshell, has recently been lauded for her bravery in going make-up free at the Paris Fashion Week. When I first heard about it and I saw the pictures, I thought to myself, “if I’d had that much plastic surgery, I’d probably feel pretty good going makeup free too.” After checking my snark and thinking further, I realize going make-up free in that environment is practically unheard of. Going make-up free for any celebrity is a big deal. Someone like Pam, who is always made up with a full face, took courage to break this ground. She is brave.
Related: isn’t it weird that going without make-up can be described as brave?
After all, approximately half of the adult population - men, goes make-up free every day. Why is make-up the standard for women, but not men? It’s all so interesting when you stop and think about it.
Here’s what Pam said about it,
“You have to challenge beauty sometimes. If we all chase youth or our idea of what beauty is ... we're only going to be disappointed and maybe a little bit sad.”
I couldn’t agree with her sentiments.
I’d also add aging is beautiful and natural and okay. I believe beauty is found the lines of our faces. Those wrinkles are made up of heartbreak and laughter, joys and disappointments, magical and mundane seasons of life. They are us.

had this to say as her Six Word Memoir:“My wrinkles are a treasure map”
What a beautiful description of aging. I couldn’t agree more. I for one happen to love make-up and always have. I enjoy it. I believe that’s different than feeling like you have to wear make-up. On the other hand, I’ve never had any fillers or procedures done. I am aging au-natural. So far I like this me.
Pam has inspired me to go out make-up free more often.
What are your thoughts? Is Pam brave? Do you go out sans make-up?
Let us know in the comments.
Xo, K
I don't wear it at home which is pretty much most of the time. I rarely go without lipstick though. 💋
I rarely wear makeup --and usually just mascara when I do put it on. Honestly, I am just too lazy to take the time to do it. 🤪
