This is terrific. I love the thoughtful, values-oriented approach, and your refusal to make the kind of specific goals (lose 10 pounds, etc.) that set one up for failure, and don’t add meaning even if you “succeed.” I think that looking at decades rather than years is a great way to see natural patterns instead of arbitrary blocks of time. Thank you for this.❤️
Great outlook and questions! I like this way thinking...especially ‘meetings with yourself’ as a way to reflect and reframe how to move forward! I do the IG Top Nine each year... but this is more an inside job... whether journals or meditating or long talks with ourselves! Thanks for this. Kathi! The questions call for honesty in how to better ourselves, our lives.
This is a great reflection piece. I appreciate your questions about your journals Kathi. I was in the same place earlier this year and after a lot of thought I chose to get rid of a lifetime of journals! I wrote about the how & why of it back in June if you want to check it out. I did it for the reason you mentioned - releasing the past and starting over. Nothing had changed in my life on the outside but everything was different inside and I no longer wanted to carry that old stuff with me. This is my first new year I won't be looking back at all that came before to 'assess the situation🤣' - I'll keep you posted on how I do without it.
The self-exploration you encourage us to take is a vital part of growth, at least for me it is. I appreciate the questions you've posed here and will spend some time pondering them as I write about them in my new journal. You know I could never totally give it up!
Love this. Saving these questions for my own reflection and direction
Thx Tammy ❤️
"Decade direction": I like that phrase. I'll incorporate that into my year-end reflection and set my direction. Lots to think about! Thanks.
Thank you!!! 😊

Thank you so much Donna!!! That’s so encouraging to hear you got rid of your journals. I’ll have to go read your article. Xoxo
As a "collector of questions" I'll definitely make use of this post!
Thank you!
